Police arrest three suspected fraudsters impersonating Kogi Governor’s wife
The Kogi State Police Command has arrested three individuals suspected of fraud for allegedly using the name and office of the state’s First Lady, Sefinat Usman-Ododo, to deceive victims.
On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the command’s spokesman, revealed that the suspects—two men and a woman—had printed forms labeled “Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria” and presented them as part of an empowerment program associated with Mrs. Usman-Ododo.
The suspects, whose names have not been disclosed, are currently in custody with the Police Quick Response Unit. According to the PPRO, the trio sold these forms to the public, falsely claiming that the cooperative was linked to the First Lady’s empowerment platform.
“The suspects were nabbed in Lokoja on Tuesday, when an undercover agent approached them and bought the form. The matter is under investigation and once concluded we shall prosecute them accordingly,” he said.
