If the protest breaches beyond what the police can handle, the military will step in – CODS, Christopher Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has warned that the Nigerian military will intervene to quell the ongoing hunger protests if security breaches persist.

Musa made this statement during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

Since Thursday, August 1, Nigerians have taken to the streets to express their grievances over hunger and the high cost of living in the country.

However, looting and property destruction incidents have been reported in some states.

Musa said, “We are supporting the Police all through. We are just on standby. The Police is doing a good job; they are handling the situation for now.

“Unless it breaches beyond what they can handle, then the military will step in.

“The military is on standby and we are watching day and night.”
