With the current situation in Nigeria if you call all Nigerians and say we are only going to feed women, all men will dress like women – Peter Obi
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over recent issues in the country.
In an interview on Arise TV, Obi argued that the EFCC is targeting minor offenses, like arresting Bobrisky for spraying a small amount of money, instead of addressing the corruption and economic sabotage committed by the elite. He remarked that given the current situation in Nigeria, if it were announced that only women would be fed, men would start dressing like women.
Obi also criticized the CBN for allowing the Heritage Bank situation to deteriorate to the point where funds deposited by poor people are now inaccessible. He suggested that some elites were able to recover their money before the bank’s license was revoked by the CBN, and he blamed the country’s elites for the problems at Heritage Bank.
