I have spent over N100m building this house- Nigerian man laments as Delta state govt moves to demolish his structure and others in Asaba
A Nigerian man has expressed distress following the Delta state government’s decision to demolish his property and others in Asaba. The Delta State Taskforce on Recovery of Government Lands initiated the demolition of unauthorized structures on lands belonging to Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba, starting on Monday, May 13. The demolition occurred after the expiration of notices given to the illegal property occupants to vacate the premises.
In an online-shared video, the man stated that he commenced construction on his property in November of the previous year and has invested over N100 million into it. He alleged that the state government did not engage in consultations with the property owners prior to carrying out the demolition.
