Olympics: We will ensure timely release of funds – Sports Minister Enoh
The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has affirmed the ministry’s commitment to promptly disbursing funds to prepare Nigerian athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics Games scheduled to occur from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
Enoh provided this assurance in Abuja through a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Diana-Mary Nsan.
He further stated that the ministry will actively seek collaborations with private individuals and corporate entities to enhance financial backing, ensuring that athletes are adequately equipped for success.
He said there are plans to implement salaries for grade A athletes, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s athletes and their potential to achieve success at the Paris Olympic Games.
“Plans are underway to provide insurance coverage for Team Nigeria athletes to mitigate risks associated with injuries and unforeseen circumstances, reflecting a proactive approach to athlete welfare,” he said.
