Delayed grief cost me my marriage – Jim Iyke

Nollywood luminary, Jim Iyke, has revealed how his marriage disintegrated due to unresolved grief.

In an interview on the TeaTalk podcast, Jim Iyke revealed that the loss of his mother profoundly impacted his marriage as they shared a very close bond.

The renowned actor, who is presently divorced, admitted that he struggled to confront the pain he experienced following his mother’s passing, influenced by societal expectations, particularly the traditional African norms that dictate men should suppress their emotions to avoid appearing weak. He acknowledged that this internal struggle led him to focus on the wrong aspects of his life, as he didn’t properly process his grief.

He also expressed that despite his ex-wife’s efforts to support him through his emotional turmoil, she anticipated mutual affection, which he found challenging to reciprocate. Jim additionally disclosed his intention to marry again, aiming to cherish the institution of marriage.

He further expressed that he would love to get married again as he enjoys the union.
