Ministers appointed based on political strengths for possible election rerun – Public affairs analyst, Eugene Abels

Eugene Abels, a commentator on public affairs, has proposed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s selection of ministerial appointees is motivated by political considerations, especially with the prospect of a potential electoral re-run.

He observed that the nominees for ministerial positions primarily consist of influential politicians who wield significant power within their respective states.

Abels articulated his belief that these appointed ministers are intended to secure electoral support for the current administration in the event of a re-run election occurring in certain states

We are aware of the current state of affairs concerning the last elections, and I think that the appointments are purely based on political reasons in the event that there is a rerun.

“If you look at the list very well, 90% of them are politicians, who supposedly have strong influence politically in their domains.

“In case elections are cancelled in some areas, in case the Supreme Court rules that there should be a rerun, they want to be ready, that’s the way I see it,” he said.
