EFCC will not bandy words with a suspect – Bawa reacts to Matawalle bribe claims.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asserted that it will not engage in a war of words with a suspect. This statement was made in response to the allegation made by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state, accusing EFCC boss Abdulrasheed Bawa of demanding a $2 million bribe from him.

During an interview with BBC Hausa on Friday, May 19, Matawalle claimed that Bawa had previously requested the money as a bribe. The governor has been embroiled in a dispute with the EFCC boss following the commission’s investigation into alleged corrupt practices involving him.

In a statement shared on its Twitter account, the EFCC urged the governor to provide substantial evidence to support his accusations.
