2023: Nothing will happen if a northerner succeeds Buhari – Baba-Ahmed

Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has expressed that nothing will happen if a northerner succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

He said this while delivering a keynote address at an event organized by the students wing of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, being the maiden Maitama Sule Leadership Lecture Series. Ahmed-Baba said the the North was not for sale and that northerners would surprise those waiting for them to queue up in 2023 and be given money in exchange for their votes.

He explained that northerners would not accept to serve as second fiddle in 2023 as they are not second class citizens.

He also stated that the region had the population that enable it clinch the number one seat.

He added that anyone that does not want a northerner as President should leave the country in 2023.

The spokesman challenged the students not to accept being treated as second-class citizens in their own country but to be proud of who they are.

According to him, “We will lead Nigeria the way we have led Nigeria before, whether we are President or Vice President, we will lead Nigeria. We have the majority of the votes and the democracy says vote whom you want.”

He noted that there was no need to accept second class position when they knew they can buy form and contest for first class and win.

Baba-Ahmed asked: “why does anybody need to threaten northerners and intimidate them?”

He said that there were Nigerians who believe that because the economy of the North was being crumbled, they can buy them for 2023.

He charged the youths to be active in politics and not accept second class status.
