BREAKING: Senate screens Lauretta Onochie, five others for INEC roles
The Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun screening of the Special Assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, and five other nominees for appointment as National Commissioners of the electoral body.
The screening is set to commence at the Senate Chambers and is to be presided over by Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Kabiru Gaya.
Lauretta’s nomination has stirred controversies as some Nigerians, including top political officials, condemned her inclusion in the list of nominees.
According to them, her alleged partisanship does not qualify her to occupy the position.
Others to be screened include;
Professor Muhammad Sani Kallah, (Katsina) screened; Professor Kunle Cornelius Ajayi (Ekiti) screened; Saidu Babura Ahmad, (Jigawa) screened; Professor Sani Muhammad Adam (North Central) and Dr Baba Bila, (North East).
