Yoruba Nation: Stay away from Ondo, Akeredolu warns Igboho, others

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has warned popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho and others agitating for a sovereign Yoruba State to stay away from the state.

Akeredolu expressed that Ondo people have elected to stay in the Federal Republic of Nigeria as constituted at present.

Akeredolu made this known while swearing-in Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu as the new Secretary to the State Government and other Special Advisers on Monday.

He stated that the state would not subscribe to banditry and recklessness in putting forth its demands.

He said no part of the entire state would permit any gathering or agitation which may suggest, however remotely, that the people are in support of what he termed ‘unthinking rabble-rousing.’

He stated that the right of citizens to discuss, agitate and even fight to right perceived wrongs, culminating in self-determination, must be done within known and acceptable parameters.

He also expressed that all concerned must agree to pursue the same objectives to achieve a desirable or desired end.

He noted that the reasons for the declaration of hostilities must not be fleeting fancies of disaffection engendered by perceived politics of exclusion for personal benefits.

  1. That is where our problems lie, there’s no uniformity in the land and it will amount to disaster on us

  2. We should think twice according to Hubert ogunde’s song that asked Yoruba to think twice, this is very bad of our leaders

  3. Sunday Igboho needs to be extra careful because some of Yoruba leaders are not happy with him, many of them are betrayals, therefore, he needs to be careful

  4. Governor Akeredolu is not the only citizen/resident of Ondo State as such he has no right to make such a sweeping statement. Ondo people like other Yorubas of the Southwest and indeed the Southern Nigeria and the Middle Belt are fed up with Nigeria and the Fulani Unitary Government of Death in the contraption of every evil Nigeria has turned out to be. He cannot hold on to power at all costs including to the detriment of Ondo State people. When a referendum is conducted, which shall be very soon, then he will discover to his chagrin that he is alone in that camp that wants Yoruba to continue to be slaves to a Fulani minority in our own land which they also seek to take over and dash to members of their “killer tribe” from West Africa and beyond.

  5. I think what the Yoruba leaders should do is to come together and take firm decision on rescue Yoruba land from these herdsmen

  6. I know it will come to this, yeruba can never speak with one voice, they will still arrest igboho soon
