“Nigerians do not need the permission of governors to settle anywhere, even in the forests” Bauchi governor says in response to Ondo governor, Akeredolu

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has said that Nigerians do not need the permission of any state Governor or even the Federal Government to reside in any part of the country even the forests.

He said this after Rotimi Akeredolu called him out over his comment that Fulani herdsmen carry AK47 rifles to protect themselves since the government isn’t protecting them. According to the Ondo State Governor, Bala is unfit to be in public office. Akereolu had also ordered all herdsmen to vacate the Ondo state forest reserves or register with the state government.

Reacting to this, Bala Speaking on Friday, Feb 19, on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’’ programme, Bala said:

“Land is in the hands of the state and federal governments in trust but Nigerians don’t need the permission of governors or the federal government to settle everywhere. “You don’t need the permission of the governor of Bauchi or the governor of Ondo to be in the forests of Ondo if you choose to live in the forests because under Section 41 of the constitution, you are free to settle anywhere.”

  1. I don’t think governor Bala Muhammed is not one of those that is aids aiding killing in the country, how would you say herders have the right to carry AK-47 and go to anywhere they like in the country to live. This is bad.
