Kano Deputy Governor Reportedly Steps Down Amid Controversy

Kano State Deputy Governor Abdulsalam Gwarzo has reportedly resigned from office, according to a statement by the Kwankwasiyya Movement, although the state government has yet to confirm the development.

The group said the decision was made in the interest of maintaining stability, noting that recent circumstances had hindered his ability to fully perform his duties.

The reported resignation follows allegations raised by the Kano State House of Assembly, though the movement insisted it should not be seen as an admission of guilt.

It added that Gwarzo plans to focus on strengthening the Kwankwasiyya Movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
