“Reject Rice Politics, Demand Real Governance” — Akoh Tells Benue South Voters

Idoma elder statesman Dickson Akoh has condemned inducement politics in Benue South, warning that distributing items like rice and salt does not represent true democracy.

In a statement ahead of the 2027 elections, Akoh described such gestures as temporary distractions that keep people dependent while masking deeper governance failures.

He criticised what he called the “Consultation Paradox,” where politicians engage voters only during elections and disappear afterward, leaving no accountability.

Akoh urged voters to prioritise real development, such as roads, healthcare, education, electricity and security, over handouts, and to support leaders with proven track records.

He also called on Idoma stakeholders to unite and demand credible leadership, stressing that the 2027 elections should mark a turning point toward accountability and meaningful progress.
