“Criminal Gang”: Kenneth Okonkwo Slams Tinubu Over Rising Insecurity

Legal practitioner and ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has launched a fierce verbal attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing the government of being “part of the criminal gang that is buying and selling Nigerians.” Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Okonkwo criticized the presidency’s handling of the worsening security crisis across the nation.
The lawyer argued that the administration is “incapable” of solving the country’s security problems, alleging that it prioritizes political maneuvering over human lives. “The only thing this lame, incompetent, lying and corrupt government know how to do is to politicize everything, including security. That’s why it is metastasizing all over the nation,” Okonkwo stated.

Addressing the recent wave of mass kidnappings, Okonkwo expressed disbelief at the government’s perceived inaction and its soft approach toward terrorists. He claimed that “criminality is not being punished” and mocked the administration for allegedly talking “nicely” to terrorists to secure the release of captives without ensuring any legal consequences for the perpetrators.

The ADC chieftain also pointed to the President’s decision to proceed with a state visit to the United Kingdom immediately following the deadly suicide bombings in Maiduguri as evidence of misplaced priorities. He described the move as “dancing on the graves” of victims, suggesting that a capable leader would have remained in the country to provide direct leadership during such a tragedy.

Okonkwo further highlighted that the lack of “boots on the ground” and the presence of vast “ungoverned spaces” have made the country vulnerable. He warned that increasing hunger and hardship are making it easier for criminal elements to recruit desperate citizens, while the government continues to “play politics” with the proposed establishment of state police.

Concluding his remarks, Okonkwo insisted that the “buck stops” with the Commander-in-Chief. He maintained that the current administration has lost the moral authority to govern effectively, stating that “suffering of people is increasing” while the leadership remains focused on maintaining its political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
