Portable Regains Freedom After One Week in Prison
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has been released after spending a week in prison.
The singer regained his freedom on Monday, January 19, 2026, after meeting his bail conditions. In a video circulating online, Portable claimed he was wrongly accused, saying, “They lied against me. I’m innocent.”
Portable was remanded in custody following allegations of assault and theft made by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, and her siblings. The issue reportedly began on New Year’s Eve after a video of the singer and Ashabi arguing surfaced online.
Ashabi and her siblings later accused Portable of assault and stealing their car, leading to his arrest. He was arraigned last Monday before a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count charge including theft, assault, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
The court had adjourned the bail hearing to January 19, 2026, after which Portable was granted release.
