“I Don’t Know My Future” — Chelle Speaks After Super Eagles’ AFCON Exit
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has admitted that his future with Nigeria is uncertain following the team’s semi-final loss to host nation Morocco at the 2025 AFCON in Rabat.
Nigeria were eliminated after losing 4–2 on penalties, following a goalless draw that lasted through extra time. The Super Eagles will now face Egypt in the third-place match on Saturday.
Speaking after the match, Chelle said he was unsure if he would remain in charge beyond the tournament, noting that a decision could come at any time.
Despite the defeat, the coach praised his players and insisted Nigeria had been one of the best teams at the competition. He urged the squad to stay focused and turn their disappointment into motivation for the final game.
Chelle added that discussions about his contract should wait until after AFCON concludes, stressing that the team’s priority is to beat Egypt and finish strong.
