‘Nnamdi Kanu fights darker forces than Nelson Mandela’ – Wife
Uchechi, the wife of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has stated that her husband is confronting forces even more daunting than those Nelson Mandela faced during apartheid in South Africa.
She insisted that Kanu is not a terrorist but one of Africa’s most significant freedom fighters.
In a post shared on X, she wrote: “The Igbo youths and students are in solidarity with Mazi #NnamdiKanu. #NnamdiKanu is not a terrorist.“He is the greatest African Freedom fighter that exists and the leader of millions of Biafrans scattered all over the world who are under his umbrella #IPOB.”
Although she acknowledged that Kanu, like every human being, is not without flaws, she maintained that he deeply loves his people, who in turn are willing to defend him with their lives.
Uchechi also compared his struggle to Mandela’s, saying that while Mandela confronted opponents who could still be reasoned with—despite the harshness of apartheid Nnamdi Kanu is up against forces that are far darker.
“And you know what, Nelson Mandela fought in the arena (apartheid) with those amenable to reasoning, despite its brutality. Mazi #NnamdiKanu, however, fights in the arena against forces far more darker,” she added.
