2026 Elections: Majority of appointments will be allocated to the Youths if elected- Rotimi Amaechi states

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, has announced his intention to contest for the Nigerian presidency, stating that if elected, he plans to implement a cabinet split equally between male and female ministers.

Amaechi’s statement remains: If elected, the cabinet would consist of 21 female and 21 male ministers, as he seeks to demonstrate that good performance is not determined by one’s gender.

Amaechi, who made the remarks at a recent event in Port Harcourt, further emphasized that the majority of his appointments would be allocated to youths.

“I will split the cabinet into two equal parts; there will be 21 male and 21 female ministers. I just want to prove to the world that gender is not the basis for action. There is going to be competition; let’s see who is going to perform better, and I will tell Nigerians, look at the performance of both A and B.“

“In that appointment, 10 or 11 of the 21 ministers will go to the youths; the remaining will go to any woman at the age of 40, 50, or 60. The same will apply to the male.”

It was reported that the former governor is aspiring to contest the election via the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
