‘My resignation not over US, Tinubu military threat’ — Ex-Defence Minister Badaru
Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has dismissed a viral report claiming he resigned from office because he could not “stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.”
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Badaru described the publication as false, malicious, and deliberately misleading. He said he never made such comments, nor were they made by anyone authorised to speak on his behalf.
According to him, the report was designed to damage his reputation, sow discord between him and President Bola Tinubu, and stir unnecessary controversy. He clarified that the true reasons for his resignation were formally communicated to the President and already made public through official channels.
Badaru reaffirmed his commitment to national peace and stability and pledged continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged the public to ignore the report, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers.
