Declare state of Emergency – Atiku tells President Tinubu

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately declare a state of emergency over Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

Atiku appealed in a Facebook post on Friday while reacting to the abduction of students in Niger State. Terrorists had invaded St. Mary Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, kidnapping more than 50 students and staff.

Expressing frustration, Atiku questioned why the Tinubu administration has not taken firm action despite the rising wave of violence and kidnappings across the country.

The 2023 PDP presidential candidate described the latest attack as heartbreaking, writing: “Not again. This is truly heartbreaking. How many more lives must be shattered before decisive action is taken?

“It is not too late for the government to finally declare a state of emergency on insecurity and confront this menace with the urgency it deserves.”
