Christian genocide: ‘Focus on your anaconda music, stop chasing clout’ – Abati slams Nicki Minaj over UN speech

Former presidential aide Reuben Abati has dismissed Nicki Minaj’s planned appearance at the United Nations as clout-chasing. The American rapper is set to speak today in New York alongside U.S. ambassador Mike Waltz on alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria.

Waltz announced the collaboration on X, saying he wanted to use Nicki’s huge platform to draw attention to what he called atrocities against Christians. Nicki Minaj, who has previously criticised Nigerian leaders over insecurity, said she was grateful for the opportunity.

But Abati argued on Arise News that the rapper has no business speaking on Nigeria’s internal issues. According to him, Nigeria should counter the moment by putting Tiwa Savage, or any Nigerian influencer, on national TV at the same time to defend the country. He maintained that Nicki should “stick to her music” instead of chasing relevance on sensitive geopolitical matters.
