VDM and Mr Jollof’s mid-flight fight is a “diversionary tactic to prevent people from discussing the country’s real problem – Catholic Priest, Fr. Chidi Unegbu

A Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Chidi Angelo Unegbu, has cautioned Nigerians against getting carried away by trending social media controversies, suggesting that some viral topics are purposely amplified to divert public attention from the country’s real challenges.

Reacting to the recent mid-flight clash between social critics Very Dark Man (VDM) and Mr Jollof, the priest said such sensational stories are crowding out more important national conversations.

In a Facebook post on Monday, he wrote:

“It seems that some people are deliberately promoting these diversionary tactics on Nigerian social media to prevent people from discussing the country’s real problems. Today, it is fighting on airplanes. Stop falling for all these distractions.”
