Nigerian Police File Multiple Charges Against Ex-Senator Elisha Abbo Over Rape Of 13-year-old Schoolgirl
The Nigeria Police Force has filed a nine-count criminal charge against former Senator Elisha Abbo, accusing him of raping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
The charges, filed on October 30 at the FCT High Court in Abuja, follow an investigation that found enough evidence to take the case to trial. The alleged incident occurred on June 29, 2025, after the minor was reportedly taken to Abbo’s residence in Katampe Extension, Abuja, by an acquaintance. According to her testimony, the former lawmaker molested and threatened her, warning her not to speak about the assault.
Abbo, who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District before being sacked by the court in 2023, has denied the allegations, claiming that the girl visited his home briefly with a relative and later stole jewelry belonging to his wife — a claim both the victim and her companion denied.
Police investigations also uncovered financial transactions between Abbo and the minor, including a ₦50,000 transfer for “ice cream” and another ₦200,000 for her birthday. Although a forensic analysis of Abbo’s phone found no explicit images of the victim, investigators said the case needed to be “tested in court” to establish the truth.
Abbo is now facing charges of rape, sexual assault, intimidation, and threats to life.
