Insult to Democracy – Timi Frank speaks on declaration of 93yr old Paul Biya as Cameroon’s president

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has condemned the declaration of 93-year-old Paul Biya as winner of the recent presidential election in Cameroon.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Frank described Biya’s victory as “an insult to democracy and a brazen fraud that must be rejected by all who believe in justice and freedom.”

He alleged that the results announced by the Cameroonian regime were fabricated, amounting to a “clear subversion of the people’s will.”

Frank also decried the violent crackdown on protesters who took to the streets to reject the outcome, accusing security forces of killing and brutalising innocent citizens.

“This bloodshed must end immediately. Those who ordered and carried out these killings must be held personally accountable before international law,” he said, urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the United Nations (UN) to investigate the situation.

Frank maintained that the true winner of the election was Issa Tchiroma Bakary, whose mandate, he said, reflected the genuine will of the Cameroonian people.

He called on the international community to recognise Bakary’s victory and pressure Biya to step down.
