Tinubu appoints new service chiefs, sacks CDS Musa, replaces him with Oluyede

President Bola Tinubu has approved a shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, a move aimed at further strengthening the nation’s security framework.

A statement issued Friday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, announced the appointment of Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Christopher Musa.

Other appointments include:

  • W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff
  • S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff
  • I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff

Meanwhile, E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu thanked the outgoing Service Chiefs for their service to the nation and urged the newly appointed commanders to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces.

The appointments take immediate effect.
