Wike Dismisses 2027 Presidential Ambition Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty to Tinubu
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked claims that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is urging him to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing the report as “a lie from idle minds.”
In a statement by his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, Wike reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu, saying, “as far as Wike is concerned, it is President Tinubu till 2031.” He criticized those spreading the rumours, saying they lack meaningful ideas for national development.
Olayinka clarified that the only meeting Wike attended on August 20, 2025, was a PDP Southern stakeholders’ session concerning internal party zoning matters, not a discussion about the presidency.
The statement emphasized that Wike operates transparently and remains focused on advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda by developing the FCT in line with President Tinubu’s vision.
