I spent $150,000 on a Saint Kitts & Nevis passport because I was denied a visa twice for being Nigerian – Nigerian Filmmaker, Tayo Aina
Popular Nigerian travel filmmaker Tayo Aina has revealed why he spent $150,000 to acquire a Saint Kitts and Nevis passport, saying his desire for freedom and access drove the move.
Speaking on the “Am I Too Loud?” podcast, Tayo recalled being denied a visa twice to attend the NAS Summit in Dubai, where he was invited to speak alongside top creators like Casey Neistat, despite having visited the country before.
“I’d been to Dubai twice before, but they denied me twice, just because I was Nigerian,” he said, adding that he had also faced harassment and entry issues in countries like Ethiopia and South Africa.
The repeated travel setbacks, he said, pushed him to make a life-changing decision. “That day I told myself, never again. My biggest goal in life is freedom. Freedom to be wherever I want, whenever I want, with whoever I want.”
Tayo eventually saved up and purchased the Saint Kitts and Nevis passport, which grants visa-free access to over 150 countries. “That decision changed everything for me,” he concluded.
