Make peace with terrorists, learn from Hamas, Israel – Sheikh Gumi tells Tinubu
Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on President Bola Tinubu to initiate peace negotiations with bandits, likening the approach to the recent ceasefire and hostage exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Gumi said Nigeria should learn from the U.S.-brokered truce, which involved a group once labeled as terrorists, arguing that dialogue not force offers a more lasting solution to the nation’s insecurity.
He reiterated his stance that engaging armed groups in talks would yield better results than continued military operations in northern Nigeria.
He wrote: “Peace between Israel and Hamas they term as terrorists brokered by USA. Who said there is no peace with terrorists? Make peace with bandits and let us have peace.”
