PDP Will Reclaim Power in 2027 — Bala Mohammed
Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will bounce back to power in 2027, despite recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Mohammed admitted concern over the exit of some governors and lawmakers but said the party was quietly rebuilding and stabilising its structure. He accused the APC-led federal government of using “coercive tactics” to weaken the opposition and push Nigeria toward a one-party system.
The governor maintained that defections would not derail the PDP’s resurgence, noting that the party still enjoys strong grassroots support. He reaffirmed his loyalty, saying, “I am not going anywhere. My state has no division.”
Mohammed also dismissed rumours that Governors Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers) were planning to dump the PDP, describing both as committed members.
He assured that internal disputes and court cases ahead of the PDP convention were being resolved and insisted the party remains the only credible platform capable of rebuilding Nigeria.
“By God’s grace, if we stay united, we’ll deliver in 2027,” Mohammed said, adding that the PDP would produce visionary leaders to challenge the APC’s “deceptive politics.”
