Kemi Badenoch vows to remove 150,000 migrants annually from the UK
UK Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has announced plans for a US-style immigration crackdown, proposing to deport 150,000 migrants from the UK each year.
Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference, Badenoch said she would establish a “Removals Force”, modelled after the US ICE agency, and double enforcement funding to £1.6 billion annually.
She also pledged to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights, ban asylum claims by illegal entrants, and end legal aid for immigration cases.
Defending her plan, Badenoch said: “They don’t belong here. They are committing crimes. They will go back to where they came from.”
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood dismissed the proposal as lacking credibility, accusing the Conservatives of failing to control immigration during their time in power.
