”There has been no such directive” – FCT Police Debunks Claim of Officers Ordered to Remove Pockets from Uniforms
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied reports alleging that its officers were instructed to strip pockets from their uniforms.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 23, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, dismissed the claim as “entirely baseless” and urged the public to disregard it.
She further advised residents to rely only on official police communication channels for accurate information and cautioned social media users against spreading misinformation that could mislead the public and distract security agencies from their duties.
“There has been no such directive from the Office of the Inspector General of Police. The FCT Police Command remains focused on its constitutional mandate of safeguarding lives and property, and we urge members of the public to verify information from credible sources before circulating it further,” Adeh stated.
