Natasha finally returns to Senate after reopening of NASS office

Suspended Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has regained access to her office at the National Assembly after it was reopened by the Sergeant-at-Arms alongside security operatives.

She arrived at the complex around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, dressed in black and accompanied by her supporters. Her entry initially met resistance from some security officials, sparking mild drama before she was eventually allowed in.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office had been sealed for six months following her suspension in March over alleged violations of Senate rules. The suspension, which came after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, drew sharp criticism from civil society groups and opposition figures.

Although her attempt to challenge the suspension in court in July failed, the reopening of her office signals that she may soon resume duties when the Senate reconvenes on October 7, 2025.
