Don’t throw Nigerians into debt and despair – Peter Obi tells FG
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has urged the federal government to end policies that worsen debt and hardship for Nigerians.
In a post on X, he called for more compassionate governance by directing resources toward job creation and critical sectors. Obi lamented that many key economic players and institutions are struggling financially, with some even protesting due to their inability to meet bank and staff obligations.
“Why are retired public servants, including service men and women who have risked their lives for the nation, still protesting over unpaid gratuities and pensions?
“It is shameful that those who built this nation with their sweat, those who defended it with their lives, and those who have fulfilled their contractual obligations are reduced to begging for what is rightfully theirs, even after the government boasts of excess revenue,” he wrote.
