Nigerian Government never signed any agreement with ASUU – Min. Of Education Alausa
The Nigerian Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has urged Nigerians to pressure the federal government to address the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to prevent a nationwide strike.
Alausa clarified that the documents ASUU often cites as binding agreements, specifically from 2009 and 2011, were never signed and were merely proposals discussed during negotiations.
“The documents ASUU has been referring to as agreements were just proposals that were never signed,” Alausa stated.
He emphasized that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu is committed to resolving the ongoing issues with the union.
The minister also denied reports that he had scheduled a meeting with ASUU and the Minister of Labour and Employment, stating the reports were inaccurate.
