If I were him, I will be extremely suspicious – Adibe warns Peter Obi on coalition
Political science professor Jideofor Adibe advised Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, to be cautious about the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition as he prepares for the 2027 elections.
Adibe’s advice came a day after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced that its 2027 presidential ticket would be zoned to the South. The political scientist described Obi as a careful decision-maker, and he emphasized that every political move requires careful thought. He stated that it is Obi’s responsibility to consider the advice of his political strategists and weigh the various scenarios that arise from major political announcements.
Recent reports indicate that an opposition coalition, including figures like Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has adopted the ADC as their political platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. While Peter Obi has publicly supported the ADC coalition, some sources state he has not formally registered with the party.
“I wouldn’t want to advise Peter Obi; he has his own advisors. At the end, he has to make his own decisions, but if I were him, I would be extremely suspicious,” Adibe said.
