Prayers Can’t Stop Me From Doing My Job – Wike Tells Critics

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed attempts by detractors to influence his work, declaring that no amount of prayers can stop him from carrying out his duties.

Speaking on Tuesday at the commissioning of the rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council, Wike recounted an incident before his appointment.

He revealed that he was once advised to bring pastors to pray before assuming office as minister under President Bola Tinubu, because of “things” reportedly done by his predecessors.

Wike, however, emphasized that he remains undeterred and focused on delivering on his mandate.

He said: “When I came to this place as a Minister, the first day I was to resume, people say go and bring pastors to pray because a lot of things have been done here. I said okay, I went there and nothing

“I will do my work and nobody can influence me, if you like pray for 24 hours it will not work.

“If it’s right, it will work but if it’s for your own selfish interest, for the government not to move forward, it will not work.

“I will do what is right if you like cry from morning till night.”
