PVC is the bridge to a new Nigeria, it will make rigging difficult – Peter Obi tells Nigerians
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to take their civic responsibility seriously by registering and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement titled “PVC is the Bridge to a New Nigeria”, Obi stressed that the PVC remains the strongest tool for citizens to fight bad governance, resist election rigging, and demand accountability.
According to him, many corrupt politicians see vote-buying as an “investment in corruption,” using the system to secure power and then plunder public funds meant for schools, hospitals, and jobs. He warned Nigerians never to trade their future for temporary financial gain.
“Selling your vote is more than a transaction,” Obi cautioned. “It is selling the opportunities that could have lifted you and your family out of poverty. It is selling the schools your children deserve, the hospitals that should save lives, and the jobs that would restore dignity.”
He described the PVC as the “voice of the voiceless, the shield of the weak, and the weapon of the poor,” urging citizens to organize, safeguard their cards, and use them wisely when the time comes.
Obi concluded by emphasizing that Nigeria’s future lies in the hands of its people:
“Our democracy is at stake. That is why I urge every eligible Nigerian to register, collect, and protect your PVC. Use it to vote for leaders with competence, character, capacity, and compassion. True power does not rest with corrupt politicians, it rests with the people.”
