Nigerians have no reason to be poor – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians have no reason to be poor, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to boosting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Speaking at the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar—represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima—he highlighted Nigeria’s abundant human and natural resources and praised Cross River’s fertile land, noting its potential to grow nearly every crop. He revealed plans to plant 100 million oil palm trees, with Cross River set to benefit significantly.

Tinubu commended the state’s new tech hub for MSMEs, saying it provides affordable high-speed internet, modern equipment, and collaborative spaces, aligning with digital market opportunities. He stressed that his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda aims to create an ecosystem that supports innovation, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, beyond just providing loans or grants.

Gov. Bassey Otu described the clinic as a strategic partnership to strengthen entrepreneurship and the state’s economy, noting that over 3,500 entrepreneurs have been trained. The Bank of Industry added that it has disbursed about N260 million to support MSMEs in the state, highlighting Cross River’s potential to drive Nigeria’s industrial growth.
