You can change to ‘Kimberly’ or Kim Kardashian- Senator Shehu Sani tells Kemi Badenoch after she said’’ I don’t see myself as Nigerian by identity’’
Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch’s statement that she no longer identifies as Nigerian, suggesting she change her name to “Kimberly” or “Kim Kardashian.”
Badenoch, speaking on the Rosebud podcast, said that while her ancestry is Nigerian, she does not personally identify as one and has not renewed her Nigerian passport in over 20 years. Born in Wimbledon in 1980, she spent part of her childhood in Nigeria and the U.S. before returning to the UK at 16.
She emphasized that her sense of belonging is now rooted in her immediate family and the Conservative Party, which she described as her “extended family.”
Responding, Sani humorously advised her to change her name since she has chosen to disassociate from her Nigerian identity.
Reacting on a post on X, he wrote; Your name is still ‘Kemi’ and you don’t want to identify as Nigerian, that’s ok. Just bring back our name. You can change to ‘Kimberly’ or ‘Kim Kardashian’
