Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan dies at 71

Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, has died at age 71. The WWE Hall of Famer passed away early Thursday morning, July 24, at his Clearwater, Florida home after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. Paramedics and police responded to the emergency call, and Hogan was transported from his home on a stretcher. The official cause of death has not been disclosed

WWE confirmed the news, calling Hogan “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures” who played a major role in the company’s global success during the 1980s.

Hogan rose to fame after defeating The Iron Sheik, sparking the “Hulkamania” phenomenon and becoming WWF heavyweight champion. Known for his patriotic persona and theme song Real American, he became a household name and later appeared in films like Rocky III and Suburban Commando.

After leaving WWF in the ’90s amid a steroid scandal, Hogan joined WCW in 1994, reinventing himself as “Hollywood Hogan.” He returned to WWE in the early 2000s, cementing his status as one of wrestling’s most influential icons.

WWE extended condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans worldwide.
