Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli recently shared the secret to her enduring 24-year marriage to Nnamdi Oboli: a pre-marital decision to eliminate divorce as an option.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omoni explained, “Staying married for over two decades.
“First things first, you have to decide. It’s a decision. From day one, we decided that divorce was not an option even before we got married.”
She asserted that this unwavering commitment has been instrumental in navigating the inevitable challenges of married life, including a particularly turbulent first year.
The mother of three further stressed the crucial role of forgiveness in their successful union, noting that this mindset has helped them overcome conflicts and strengthen their bond.
Omoni also revealed the unconventional start to their love story: Nnamdi proposed just two weeks after they met, and they were married only four months later. She admitted to being young and initially unsure but ultimately “fell in love with the way her husband loved her.”
Adding his own advice for young couples, Nnamdi Oboli underscored the importance of taking responsibility within a marriage.
“Marriage is a responsibility. You don’t go into a marriage expecting it to happen to you. You are the relationship. It’s between two people; you have to make it work,” she advised.
