‘RIP LEGEND’ – Davido pays tribute to late Son Ifeanyi Adeleke

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Davido simply wrote, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!”
Ifeanyi tragically died on October 31, 2022, following a drowning accident in the swimming pool at the family’s Banana Island residence in Lagos.
At the time of the incident, neither Davido nor Ifeanyi’s mother, Chioma Rowland, were home.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the death, with an autopsy revealing drowning as the cause. Eight domestic staff members were initially questioned, and two remain under investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
In the wake of Ifeanyi’s death, an outpouring of grief and support came from Nigerians and celebrities alike, including prominent figures such as Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, rapper Bia, Meek Mill, and soccer star Victor Moses. Many described the pain of losing a child as an unimaginable ordeal for any parent.
Following the tragedy, Davido took a temporary hiatus from the public eye before returning in 2023 with his critically acclaimed album, “Timeless.”
