Amaechi resigns from APC says it is “a party of failure, pain and anguish with no empathy for the masses.”
Former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has sharply criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), characterizing it as “a party of failure, pain and anguish with no empathy for the masses.”
This declaration was made in his resignation letter, addressed to the Chairman of the APC in Ward 8, Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, and dated July 1, 2025.
It had been previously reported that Amaechi had asserted he was no longer a member of the ruling party, insisting the APC no longer exists.
In his recent letter, Amaechi stated that his decision is rooted in his commitment to joining forces with other patriotic Nigerians to rescue our dear nation from the fangs of failure, pain and anguish which the All Progressives Congress now symbolizes.
“After a wide range of consultations, I am convinced that this is the appropriate moment to call it quits as the party has derailed from the lofty ideals that birthed its formation and so, can no longer inspire hopes in Nigeria for a greater future.
“I have therefore, taken a decision to join forces with well meaning compatriots to start a fresh journey for the liberation of Nigeria.”
Amaechi is one of the leaders of the opposition coalition formed to unseat the incumbent government of President Bola Tinubu in 2027
