People need to know that they can’t joke with your daughters and go scot-free – Nigerian says as he shares video of man beaten by his in-laws for brutalising his wife

Facebook User, Abdulahafiz Muhammad, has called on families to make it clear during marriage arrangements that physical abuse will not be tolerated or resolved through peaceful mediation.

He shared this via a Facebook post on Monday, July 21, in response to a viral video showing family members confronting and physically attacking their son-in-law for allegedly abusing their daughter.

Muhammad also recounted a similar incident in his family, where his uncle took matters into his own hands and “delivered a message” to his daughter’s husband for physically assaulting her.

“I just watched a video on Sadiq Madibo’s timeline where a man was beaten up by his in-laws for beating his wife. It made me remember the time my uncle did the same thing when his son-in-law beat his daughter,” he wrote. 

“It wasn’t the first time the boy was doing it so my uncle knew he needed to teach him a lesson. He went to the boy’s house, walked into his living room where he was greeted by the boy, beeeeeeat him up like mad, then walked back home. Shikenan. Message properly delivered. It was the last time the in-law hit her again.

“If you have a daughter whose hand you’re giving in marriage to someone, make sure to state to them sternly that you will do the worst if he ever lays a finger on her. You must make it clear to them that there will be no round table mediation if physical assault is involved. It’s just energy for energy.

“People need to know that they can’t joke with your daughters and go scot-free. You didn’t pick these daughters from the stores; you gave birth to them.”
