It’s strange how when you reject men, they start calling you old simply because you are in your 30s – Photographer, Fati Abubakar
Nigerian photographer Fati Abubakar has spoken out about being age-shamed by men after turning down their romantic advances.
In a post, she emphasized that aging is a natural and beautiful part of life, adding that everyone will eventually grow older.
Fati also pointed out that wealth alone does not qualify someone to be a good life partner, urging men to understand that character matters more than riches.
“It’s strange how when you reject men, they start calling old simply because you are in your 30s. They are consistently hurling insults and bitterness. I don’t understand the age shaming,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.
And what’s wrong with aging? All of us will grow old. Being older is something beautiful to me. You are wiser, buoyant, happier, secure with your self. You make informed decisions. You can see through the BS. You can tell when someone is a narcissist or manipulative. (This wisdom may have skipped them but it hasn’t others)
And I truly hope men begin to understand that simply because you are rich or have a house or a car means you are husband material.
I truly hope you heal, and also understand that no matter how much of a spec you are, you may never be somebody’s cup of tea.
I hope you seek Islamic counseling to better understand the rights of men and women in marriage before you take the plunge.
