Tinubu signs Tax Reform Bills into law
President Bola Tinubu has signed four key tax reform bills into law, marking what he called a bold step toward a new era of economic governance in Nigeria.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of top National Assembly leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
According to Tinubu, the reforms go beyond simplifying tax codes—they represent the first major pro-people tax cuts in a generation. The new laws aim to provide targeted relief for low-income earners, small businesses, and struggling families.
The newly signed bills include:
- Nigeria Tax Bill (Fair Taxation)
- Nigeria Tax Administration Bill
- Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill
- Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill
Tinubu noted that these reforms are designed to unify Nigeria’s fragmented tax system, reduce bureaucracy, eliminate redundancies, boost investor confidence, and promote greater transparency and coordination across all levels of government.
