I’ll make farming more easy and sexy for the youths – President Tinubu
On Monday, President Bola Tinubu made a commitment to re-engage Nigerian youths in mechanized farming.
Tinubu asserted that his administration aims to make farming “more sexy” for the country’s youth. He delivered this assurance during the launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme in Abuja.
Tinubu stated that this program marks the beginning of the fulfillment of his promise to make Nigeria a global agricultural powerhouse.
He detailed the resources available, saying: “We have here over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 industrial-grade land preparation bulldozers, 12 fully equipped mobile workshops, and 9,000-plus specialised farming implements.
“This equipment, when deployed will empower mechanisation and service providers, create job opportunities, and make farming easy and more sexy for our young ones.”
He also emphasized the move away from outdated methods, stating,
“You don’t have to use an 18th-century method for a 21st-century agricultural farming implement.”
Furthermore, Tinubu revealed that his government is closely working with international partners to empower the youths with skills on how to use modern agricultural tools.
According to Tinubu, acquiring knowledge of modern agricultural practice would help Nigerian youths to be financially independent.
