“Good thing I’m not God” – Basketmouth reacts after Senate raised alarm over N200trn ‘unaccounted funds’ in NNPC coffers

Comedian Basketmouth has weighed in on the alleged financial irregularities involving trillions of naira in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) audited financial reports.

This comes after the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, led by Senator Aliyu Wadada, raised alarm over disturbing discrepancies in the NNPCL’s finances from 2017 to 2023. During a hearing on Wednesday, June 18, committee members flagged unexplained legal and audit fees, along with conflicting figures in receivables totaling over N210 trillion.

The committee noted that these concerns are based on NNPCL’s official audited statements, not speculation, highlighting that the latest document submitted by the company contradicts previously published reports.
