My first payment was like 500k. I didn’t use it, I gave everything to the church – Singer, Ruger
Afrobeats sensation Ruger has shared insights into his financial journey, detailing how he spent his first music earnings
In a chat with VJ Adams, Ruger disclosed that his initial paycheck from music was ₦500,000, which he donated entirely to his church.
“I didn’t use it,” Ruger said. “I gave everything to the church. And the next payment was like a million, I was so happy, buying parfaits and stuff. Then more millions came within a year.”
The singer also reflected on how wealth has influenced his perspective and lifestyle.
“Money changes everybody, don’t mind what others say,” Ruger stated. “A lot of things change when you start making money. The way you address things and approach life becomes different.”
He expressed his aspiration to attain a level of financial freedom that allows him to move discreetly, citing Jay Z as his inspiration.
“Some people are so rich they don’t stress at all. That’s the point I want to get to. You see Jay Z? No matter how many times he’s called out, he never speaks. That’s the kind of money I want.”
